Bike Guide Devon
My aim in starting Bike Guide Devon is to encourage more people to get out on bikes, and help them to discover the beauty of the countryside, build their confidence and improve their health, fitness and sense of well-being.
n doing this I do my best to make all the rides enjoyable, to encourage and inspire you to challenge yourself and support you to do it all safely.
am an enthusiastic mountain biker with more than 20 years experience under my wheels. I have ridden my bike on four continents, as well as discovering many beautiful parts of Britain that I might not otherwise have visited.
After 30 years of office jobs (comms, marketing, journalism and founding an award-winning energy advice website), I’ve unchained myself from desk and computer and aim to share my love of cycling with as many people as possible. I am particularly keen to encourage more women onto bikes and run regular women-only group rides in East Devon and at Haldon Forest Park.
In 2016 I qualified as a a British Cycling Level 2 Leader and I am trained in outdoor first aid. I also bring life coaching and and NLP skills to cycling, helping people to build their confidence and believe in their ability.
want to challenge the perception that mountain biking is only for the brave and adventurous and demonstrate that it’s a fantastic way to take exercise, enjoy the countryside and is very sociable too.
There’s nothing more satisfying for me than seeing people enjoying themselves on a bike - improving their skills and building their confidence. Equally it’s great fun to show experienced riders the best trails in the area.
offer a range of rides:
· Get Back on a Bike is a gentle ride, off-road at Haldon Forest. It is for women who haven’t been on a bike for years and would like to give it another try. Joinvery Tuesday at 10am.
· Guided group rides range from beginners to intermediates. They take place on Woodbury Common, at Haldon Forest, and are soon to expand to Dartmoor and the Quantocks.
· One-to-ones are a great way to focus on a particular skill you want to improve, and build your confidence.
· Mountain bike weekends give those from further afield a chance to enjoy the beautiful countryside and generous hospitality that East Devon offers.
I can also put together bespoke rides and short breaks for your group. Just let me know what you want and I’ll arrange it.
