Diana Parkes is a leading authority on women in the world of work, the challenges they face, the reasons for these challenges and the most potent and practical solutions.

She has led a five-year research programme to identify women’s critical strategies for success across a comprehensive range of workplaces and embedded them in a range of approaches. Diana’s book of The Women’s Sat Nav to Success will be published in 2018.

Amanda Stansfield is the Managing Director and Owner of Granny Gothard's Ltd, award winning ice cream and sorbet creators. A vibrant and inspiring speaker, Amanda will share the Granny Gothard's story.

Lisa Upchurch, joined New Look in 2009 and is now Head of Tax, responsible for the global taxes across the entire group. After qualification,  she joined Virgin, one of the world’s most recognisable brands as in-house tax accountant.  With responsibility for an extensive portfolio of companies including Virgin Atlantic, Cinemas, Virgin Rail and the newly formed record company V2, she also had to collate tax information for Mr B!

There has never been a more important time to keep motivated and follow this year's IWD theme #PressforProgress, with the World Economic Forum's 2017 Global Gender Gap Report findings telling us that gender parity is over 200 years away. Collective action and shared responsibility for driving gender parity is what makes International Women's Day successful. Started by the Suffragettes in the early 1900's, the first International Women's Day was celebrated in 1911. This day belongs to all communities everywhere, including governments, companies, charities, and especially networks.

Now, more than ever, there's a strong call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity. A strong call to #PressforProgress. A strong call to motivate and unite friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive.

So join us in celebrating International Women's Day, with tips from great speakers, but also the exciting launch of the Successful Women Awards. The awards will celebrate and showcase the work and businesses of Successful Women across Dorset, Devon & Somerset.

The business world is full of hugely talented and successful women who not only run businesses or work in demanding roles, but often also juggle caring responsibilities at the same time. We understand the positive impact on women of recognising & celebrating their successes, including winning awards!
